(Large Angle Spectrometric Coronagraph) is able to take images of the solar corona by blocking the light coming directly from the Sun this creats an artificial eclipse. The position of the solar disk is indicated in the images by the white circle
The C3 image makes it possible to see bright stars behind the sun which would be impossible without this sort of vision.
